GENEVA (ILO News) – The International Labour Organization (ILO) will publish a new edition of its World Employment and Social Outlook: Trends 2023 (WESO Trends), which looks at the impact of economic slowdown on the global labour market.

The WESO Trends report and accompanying press release will be published on Monday 16 January 2023. It covers the extent and consequences of the labour market disruption caused by overlapping economic and geopolitical crises and analyzes global patterns, regional differences and outcomes across groups of workers.

The report pays particular attention to the impact of the different crises on productivity, job quality and job opportunities and how these trends risk undermining social justice around the world.

The report and all associated materials will be under STRICT EMBARGO until Monday 16 January at 09:00 CET (08:00 GMT).

For UNOG-accredited correspondents, an embargoed virtual press briefing will take place on Friday 13 January from 09:00 to 10:00 CET (08:00 to 09:00 GMT). Login details will be sent to journalists ahead of the briefing.

Recognized regional journalists will be able to follow the virtual briefing via YouTube. The link will be sent in advance.

Manuela Tomei, Assistant Director-General for Governance, Rights and Dialogue and Richard Samans, Director, Research Department, will present the findings at the press briefing.

Embargoed copies of the report and the press release can be made available to recognized media on request.

Audio of the briefing will be available to the UNOG press corps and registered journalists after the press conference.
